I have a txt2793H Samsung. Its HD 720p. IS it worth going to buy a new tv? One i have works fine. Will a get a big difference in pic quality

The difference is that your TV has better picture quality. I’m not sure that it’s 720p, it may be 1080i, as 720p CRT HDTVs were quite rare.
Hold onto your SlimFit CRT, take good care of it. NO LCD on the market, or even LED TV, can match the color, contrast, black levels, viewing angles, and response time of your television. Contrary to what pushy Best Buy salesmen and LCD manufacturers want you to believe, CRT always provides a better picture in terms of contrast, color, and response time than even the best LCDs. So why aren’t CRT HDTVs produced anymore (at least not in America)? Because many consumers wanted light weight and very thin form factor rather than the best possible picture at a good price, and the ultimate objective of any corporation is not necessarily to provide quality products, but to maximize profits.

Absolutely not.
EDIT: CRT even outperforms plasma in all but resolution. And you might also take note that Philips TVs are now made by Funai, a Chinese company of questionable quality.
