Stunning LCD TV, excellent features - but best equipment needed to get most out of it

Well, when my new KDL32V5500 arrived I was genuinely enthralled with its appearance. It was very easy to set up on its stand (a one-person job but safer with two), and the actual digital setup was a breeze, with its on-screen instructions making the instruction booklet not really needed. It really is that easy to get it going - a clear advantage for the elderly, or anyone really.

So, it looks great - but about its features? Well, it has 4 HDMI inputs - way more than I need - which means you can link it to your DVD Player, Playstation 3, SKY+ HD Box AND something else. It can even connect to a Local Area Network - basically, it can connect to the internet and you can recieve several services form it via Applicast TM, Sony''s trademark online service for the TV. Excellent. It even has a USB input, so you can plug in your memory stick, and view pictures on it and even play music in a wide variety of formats, although I have only tried MP3. Hitched up to a separate 5.1 home theatre system, it sounds great.

Now, the only ''problem'' I have had with this TV is that I still use an antenna for recieving my channels, and it''s an old antenna, and that is why my picture quality isn''t great. To get the best out of this TV, hitch it up to a SKY Box, Virgin Media Box for cable users, OR, purchase a new, more expensive Digital aerial which can recieve channel frequencies in far better frequency. The only real issue which I find a little annoying is its low Hz technology - it just means that fast-paced action is not as sharp as real footy or cinema fans might like. For me though, it is absolutely fine, and if you want quicker Frames Per Second, go for the W-Series of this TV, a bit more expensive but entirely depends on personal choice and viewing preference. Apart from this little haggle, it has everything I could possibly ask for in a TV, and a lot more. My advice is to go for it if you''re still undecided - it is Full HD, so you don''t need a separate digital box to recieve Freeview. Perfect.

Still waiting... - I ordered this a week ago with standard shipping (should be 3-5 days). I recently found out that a truck leaves for my side of Washington (the eastern side) on Monday, and does not return to the warehouse in Seattle until Friday.
Well, the TV just got to the warehouse today (Tuesday), meaning it will be sitting in a warehouse for a week until they finally get someone to deliver it the last 250 miles.
When ordering this item, I would recommend you check to see what the closest Pilot Air location is to you. If it is quite a ways away, you could expect to have an arrival date much, much later than you were hoping.

As I do not yet have the TV, I will write a review on it when I actually get it.
my first flat panel - I bought this to replace my (3 yr. old) sony sxrd rear projection. This is my first flat panel and also first samsung TV. I chose this TV over the samsung 32\" B460 model (768p), which itself is a good TV & relatively inexpensive, but I wanted something bigger- it is 38% larger (than the 32, which is actually 31.5\").

It was pretty simple to put together just a few screws to the base- you need two people however. I like the styling of it a lot and the black glass base matches my TV stand perfectly. I had it up and running via HDMI in just a few minutes.

I do feel the 1080p resolution is probably overkill for this size, but it seems manufactures are really phasing out the 720p sets. Maybe 5 years into the future there might be 1080p programming? This size equates to a 30\" CRT tv (in 4:3 mode). I may someday upgrade to a bigger set in the 50\" range and thus move this set to the bedroom, but in the meantime this set is great & looks very sleek, just 3\" deep!

The remote is a little oddly shaped, fairly big, not backlit, & not universal. Energy star 3.0, this set is very efficient. The picture quality looks very good, especially in HD - for me via dish network. I can\'t comment on the sound as I have it hooked thru a receiver & external speakers. Having 4 HDMI inputs and USB is nice too. The \"piano key\" glossy black frame does reflect light especially during the day which can be a bit distracting- I would have preferred samsung made it flat black instead. I also would like to see it made in the USA instead of mexico.

In closing this is a great TV, if you\'re looking for a solid 37\" TV you gotta consider this one... until LED backlit LCD technology improves & prices fall :)
The right tv for our space - This tv lives up to its professional reviews. Its picture, sound and operating qualities are excellent. For our space, where viewing is within 20 feet and mostly from about 10 feet, it\'s perfect. And for those who worry about a large flat screen television dominating the decor, don\'t worry about this one; at 37\" diagonally and just over an inch thick, it fits in fine.
Awesome TV - This is a great TV from Samsung. I was looking at Bravia and this one. The Bravia has some dull colors while colors on the Samsung are very vibrant and beautiful. Also, it has a better contrast ratio. The viewing angles are great and you cannot complain at all with this one.
It is very good for watching blu-ray movies and playing games off PS3. The sound from the TV is amazing as well.

It has some great features like USB-picture (hope it had USB-movie too like in the B650). A very easy to use TV, no complex menus to deal with and no hassle. It has 4 HDMI input ports and a PC-port (to connect a computer). The swivel stand is a small but a handy feature.

Overall an awesome product and a great TV...Love it!!!
Excellent television but some room for improvement - Our town recently became the first town in the U.S. to be completely wired for fiberoptics and one advantage of that is that we now have a competitor to MediaCON for directly wired cable access. Our new service is half the price of MediaCON, more channels and all high definition with just the standard package. So we broke down and bought this television to replace our 20 year one.

When I plugged it in, the experience was night and day. It made me feel as if I had been watching black and white my whole life and now I could see in color. It was sharp, it was smooth, it was brilliant. I didn\'t and haven\'t adjusted a single setting in regards to picture quality. I am completely amazed with Samsung and have now become a fan.

The only complaint I have is with their menu. Since I have fiberoptic cable, I do need a box to translate the signal for the television and a universal remote for the box that I can program to control the television. The box is connected via the HDMI1 port. However, this port is third on the list of sources so that everytime the channel button is pushed on the universal remote that controls the fiberoptic conversion box, it defaults back to the over the air signal which is first on the list of sources. I then have to switch back over to the other remote to change the source back to the HDMI1 port. This could all be solved by Samsung by just allowing the user to arrange the order of the signal sources as they desire.

Still knowing what I know now, I would still buy this television anyway.
