Question by Jacob: 1080p upconversion available for home theater receiver?
I am in the market for a new home theater/stereo receiver. Is 1080p upconversion available and worth paying for if available? I am looking to hook up my LG LED TV, my new model Dell computer (via HDMI), and a surround sound system, and eventually a gaming system. 1080p upconversion seems important to me right now because I stream a lot of stuff from my computer to my TV as well as own very many DVD’s that might look nice if upconverted. I am looking to spend in the 0 price range. But i’m unsure if 1080p upconversion is even available in this range, and if it is i’m not sure if the quality of the upconversion would be worth investing in since 0 will not get you even close to a top of the line receiver today. Does anyone have any information on the availability and quality of 1080p upconversion in receivers? Thanks for the help!

You will not find a receiver that will upscale video to 1080p. 720 is the most it will upscale to. But 720 is still HD. 720 is what HD cable and satellite produce, so it’s still a pretty good picture. You will need a Blu Ray player to get 1080p.
